Nursing Home Services
Our comprehensive suite of pathology and diagnostic testing including biochemistry, haematology, microbiology, histopathology, cytology and serology are also available to your patients who are in nursing homes and aged care facilities.
Specimen Collection and Transport
Our trained pathology collectors visit your patients to collect specimens for testing as requested. This may involve patients who need to fast or withhold their medication prior to a collection procedure. These specimens are then transported to our laboratory for testing by our staff. Our pathology couriers are also able to transport any specimens collected by you or the nursing home staff.
We supply all collection consumables used in the collection procedures and also remove all sharps waste generated by our staff in the provision of this service.
Notification of Pathology Results and Reports
Hard copy reports are courier delivered to the nursing home with a copy sent to the requesting doctor. Electronic access and automatic download of results can also be organised (at no charge) if required by you or the nursing home facility.
Fees
Fees for tests requested will be charged at the Medicare rebate so that there will be no out of pocket expenses for requests that meet the requirements of the Medicare schedule. Fees will be adjusted in accordance with the Medicare schedule.

Educational Sessions for Nursing Staff
Laverty pathologists and chief scientists are able to present pathology topics relevant to this aspect of healthcare, in line with your educational goals.
Vaccination Services
We are able to provide this service which includes serology testing to determine immune status followed by vaccination performed by a registered nurse accredited to administer vaccinations. Fees will be adjusted in accodance with the Medicare Schedule.
