Company History

Western Diagnostic Pathology was founded in 1972 by Dr D.J. McCully and four other pathologist partners from Sir Charles Gardner Hospital Perth, Western Australia.

Initially called ‘Western Pathology’, the company rapidly expanded and was quickly recognised as Western Australia’s leading pathology provider.

In 1986, Markalinga (a renowned developer and owner of Perth and Sydney’s premier tertiary private hospitals) purchased the shares in the operating company of Western Pathology with Dr McCully and the other senior pathologists continuing to retain ownership of the pathology partnership.

Since then, the practice has experienced a number of different controlling shareholders and in 2008 was acquired by Healius Ltd and became part of the Healius Pathology network of pathology practices.

Western Diagnostic Pathology has continued to successfully expand with a number of key milestones including:

Development and Training

As part of our ongoing commitment to premium patient care, we work closely with our referring medical practitioners to continuously improve our understanding of laboratory medicine and diagnostics.

Ultimately, we’re dedicated to educating and training our employees and all referring doctors in the latest medical diagnostics and their application to quality patient care.

A commitment to professional development nationwide.

Western Diagnostic Pathology is one of the country’s largest providers and hosts of professional development events for GPs. We’re also the largest private trainer of specialist pathology registrars in Australia.
