Shalinie Perera initially qualified in medicine in Sri Lanka, and subsequent to post graduate qualifications in microbiology held the post of Consultant Microbiologist in a leading teaching hospital there.

In 2002, she migrated to Australia and worked as a Research Fellow at St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne and later as Registrar at Sir Charles Gairdner and Fremantle Hospitals in Perth.

Following her Fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia she worked as a pathologist at QML Pathology in Brisbane for 4 years. Returning to Perth in 2013, She joined Western Diagnostic Pathology (WDP) and has been with WDP since then.
